HAIR EXTENSIONS: 7 MYTHS CLEARED UP
Hey guys! I’m back being a little bit wiser about a…
Undoubtedly the most innovative and provocative designer of his generation, Alexander McQueen (1969 – 2010) succeeded to express his ideas on sexuality, race, class and religion into his creations in magnificent ways. In honor to celebrate his extraordinary talent, the first and largest retrospective to be presented in Europe, ‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty’ is coming to the V&A museum, London. I had to chance to travel to London with Eurostar to attend the official press preview and enjoy a day off in London. The selection of his creations is immense and the whole setting is just captivating. The recurring use of feathers, shells, flowers and embroideries, but also skulls, leather and bones are just a few key elements that exhale his dark romantic spirit. Also his love for London is clearly stated at the entrance of the exhibition with a quote from his book ‘London is where I was brought up. It’s where my heart is and where I get my inspiration.’ I must say a quite sensational trip for a fashion exhibition: the hologram of Kate Moss floating through the room in a cream silk dress (that was not allowed to be filmed), the famous Armadillo shoes worn by Lady Gaga, the rotating dress that was paint sprayed by robots on the runway, feather and lace costumes against a backdrop of skulls and bones and hypnotizing audiovisual installations to name a few.
The name of the exhibition does not lie: Alexander McQueen ’s vision of fashion and beauty is wild, uncut, untamable, sensational and savage. To see the highlights of this stunning exhibition, watch my video but I’ld highly recommend to plan a visit yourself. Eurostar is offering a 2FOR1 deal at the moment. Click here to know more details.
