Here’s finally some snaps from Paris fashion week SS16. I didn’t really have a plan, rather than visiting my sister and catching some fashion week vibes in the meantime. Unlike previous seasons, where I was attending shows and interviewing designers for Fashion One TV, I took the opportunity to see it from another point of view and check out where the real – street style – action is going on. Street style is a struggle though. Catching the cool kids on tape was harder than I thought but here’s my – first – attempt, including some street style at Le Grand Palais.
Added a few shots of my own to share my take on fall’s ultimate trend piece, the overknee boots. I like to mix it up with different styles to make it more personal and less mainstream. I’m wearing leather over the knee boots by Tosca Blu, which to me are the best I could find. And believe me, it’s a challenge. Since over the knee boots are the perfect example of fashion exploring the lines between tasteful and tacky, stylish and kitsch, it is recommended to be picky and set some selecting criteria. Material? Leather = less dressy than suede, more badass. Black is always a good idea. Heel? Block heels go with anything, stiletto’s are a pain in the ass. I’ve toned down the dressiness of the boots with this sporty Tee which I’m wearing as a dress. By KROOT, one of my bestie’s urban wear brand from Ghent, Belgium. Added an oversized coat to create some contrasting layers, topped off with a statement – who can resist?! – candy wrapper clutch by Kate Spade and voila. My street style proof take on how to wear over the knee boots.
